Abstract:
Provided are an optical observation device and binoculars that can record an optical image of a subject and have a short overall length. A first optical system (10L) of binoculars (10) is provided with an objective lens (12), an erecting prism (13), a movable mirror (15), an eyepiece (16), and an imaging element (18). The erecting prism (13) erects an optical image made incident to an incident surface (14A) from the objective lens (12) and outputs the same from an output surface (14B). In addition, the erecting prism (13) has a non-total reflection surface (14C) within the optical path from the incident surface (14A) to the output surface (14B). The movable mirror (15) moves between a first position facing the non-total reflection surface (14C) and a second position not facing the non-total reflection surface (14C). The eyepiece (16) has an erected optical image incident thereto when the movable mirror (15) is in the first position. The imaging element (18) images the optical image when the movable mirror (15) is in the second position.
