Abstract:
Provided are an optical observation device and control method for the same that make possible easy capturing of a target in a field-of-view. Binoculars (10) acquire target information for a target selected by an operating unit (14). A GPS signal receiving unit (28) finds current position information for the binoculars (10) on the basis of a GPS signal from a GPS satellite. A target information transmission unit (34) transmits target information and current position information to an external device (40). A target direction receiving unit (36) receives a target direction D1 found by the external device (40). An observed direction detection unit (50) finds an observed direction D2 for the binoculars (10) on the basis of a detected signal for an electronic compass (30) and a gyroscope (32). A main control unit (24) generates torque in a direction that reduces the direction difference D3 between the target direction D1 and the observed direction D2. When the direction difference D3 is a threshold value or less, the main control unit (24) stops the drive for GyroCubeSensuous (38) and initiates vibration preventing action.
