Abstract:
An optical oscillator according to an embodiment of the present invention is provided with: a first reflection unit that reflects light of a first wavelength; a laser medium that is excited by excitation light of a second wavelength different from the first wavelength and emits the light of the first wavelength; a second reflection unit that forms, together with the first reflection unit, an unstable resonator which outputs an annular laser beam of the first wavelength; and a saturable absorption unit which is disposed between the laser medium and the second reflection unit and in which transmittance increases in accordance with absorption of the light of the first wavelength. When the power of the excitation light is denoted by Pp (kw), the inner diameter of the annular laser beam is denoted by di, the outer diameter is denoted by do, and a magnification rate m is denoted by do/di, the magnification rate m satisfies a0+a1Log(Pp)≤m≤b0+b1Pp+b2Pp 2. In the expression, a0=1.421, a1=0.10678, b0=2.8698, b1=0.79408, and b2=-0.022536 are satisfied.
