Abstract:
Provided is an optical plastic film that makes it possible to suppress rainbow unevenness when viewed with the naked eye and blackout when viewed with polarized sunglasses, without increasing an in-plane phase difference and without requiring an axis alignment. The optical plastic film satisfies the following conditions 1 and 2. A large sample with a size of 200 mm x 300 mm is cut from the plastic film. The large sample is divided into 30 small samples with a size of 40 mm x 50 mm. For each small sample an area of 30 mm x 40 mm obtained by excluding 5mm from the edges is segmented into 47,000 or more areas, after which the in-plane phase difference of each of the segmented areas is measured. Among the 30 small samples, the percentage of the small samples for which the average of the in-plane phase differences of the measured regions is 50 nm or greater and 1200 nm or smaller is 50% or greater. For the 30 small samples, under the same condition as the condition 1, the angle of the slow axis of each of the segmented regions of the small samples is measured. Among the 30 small samples, the percentage of the small samples for which the standard deviation σ is 0.8 degrees or greater, as calculated from the angle of the slow axis of the measured regions, is 50% or greater.
