Abstract:
[Problem] To stabilize the search for and playback of data from a plurality of multilayer optical discs tied to a disk cartridge. [Solution] This optical recording system can, from a disc cartridge that can attach/remove a plurality of multilayer optical discs, remove and load into a disc drive each multilayer optical disc, and record/play back data to/from each multilayer optical disc. An RF tag reader/writer that can record to and read from RF tags is provided to the disc cartridge, the respective disc IDs are read from each multilayer optical disc by means of a plurality of disc drives, and by means of the RF tag reader/writer, the disc IDs are recorded to an RF tag. When a disc ID is recorded at the RF tag and each multilayer optical disc, a host device compares both disc IDs and determines whether or not the plurality of multilayer optical discs are tied to the disc cartridge.
