Abstract:
The present invention suppresses the deterioration of optical signal characteristics even when the noise level of the optical signal delivered to an opposite station is high. The optical multiplexer/demultiplexer (20) according to this mode is provided with: an OCM (1) which measures the strength of the optical signals in each of multiple wavelength bands inputted to a WSS (2) and, on the basis of the measured intensities, determines an optical signal wavelength band and a noise wavelength band; the WSS (2) which, as a primary signal, passes the optical signal in the optical signal wavelength band determined by the OCM (1); a dummy light generation unit (3) which generates dummy light in which the optical signal wavelength band has been extinguished; and an optical coupler (4) which multiplexes the primary signal outputted from the WSS (2) and the dummy signal, and outputs this as a wavelength-division multiplexed optical signal to the optical transmission path.
