Abstract:
An optical switch device 1 comprises: a separation member 30 which separates incident light 50 into a first polarized light component 52 and a second polarized light component 51; a first liquid crystal element 10b which receives the first polarized light component 52, has a first liquid crystal layer 13b and changes the polarization plane of the first polarized light component 52 in accordance with the electric field applied to the first liquid crystal layer 13b; a first transparent member 60 which is arranged between the separation member 30 and the first liquid crystal element 10b; a second liquid crystal element 10a which receives the second polarized light component 51, has a second liquid crystal layer 13a and changes the polarization plane of the second polarized light component 51 in accordance with the electric field applied to the second liquid crystal layer 13a; a synthesis member 31 which combines the first polarized light component 52 from the first liquid crystal element 10b and the second polarized light component 51 from the second liquid crystal element 10a with each other; and a second transparent member 61a which is arranged between the synthesis member 31 and the second liquid crystal element 10a.
