Abstract:
One aspect of the present disclosure suppresses upsizing of a device while dealing with a vergence-accommodation conflict. An optical system (3) for forming an image of light from a display element (2) comprises: a modulation part (5) which individually polarizes and modulates light from each portion of the display element such that the light from each portion of the display element becomes any polarized light beam among a plurality of polarized light beams with different polarization directions; and an optical path part (6) through which the light polarized and modulated by the modulation part passes. The optical path part is configured such that the optical path length of the light passing through the optical path part differs according to the polarization direction when the light is incident on the optical path part.
