Title:
OPTICAL TIME-OF-FLIGHT RANGE-FINDING DEVICE
Document Type and Number:
WIPO Patent Application WO/2016/075945
Kind Code:
A1
Abstract:
In this optical time-of-flight range-finding device, a basic exposure period corresponding to conventional long-term accumulation is divided into a plurality of sub exposure periods. During one cyclic period, in which a plurality of the sub exposure periods complete one cycle, the electric charge accumulated during a sub exposure period is retained without being reset. A measured value for short-term exposure is obtained from the amount of electric charge accumulated during one cyclic period. A measured value for long-term exposure is obtained by integrating the amounts of electric charge accumulated during a plurality of cyclic periods. Both the measured value for short-term exposure and the measured value for long-term exposure can be obtained from one pixel (the same pixel). As a result, the dynamic range is expanded without restricting the arrangement of pixels, the design of the light-receiving optical system, or the receiving state of reflected light.
