Abstract:
An optical transmission system having: N transmitters for converting one of N electric signals that indicate mutually different data series into an optical signal; a signal generation unit for dividing the N optical signals outputted from the N transmitters through N optical splitters, thereby converting the N optical signals into M optical signals; a multiplexer for converting the M optical signals that have been converted by the signal generation unit into one mode multiplex signal that is excitable in at least M modes; a demultiplexer for converting the mode multiplex signal that has been converted by the multiplexer into M optical signals; M receivers for converting one of the M optical signals that have been converted by the demultiplexer into the electric signal; and a signal detection unit for performing signal separation on the M electric signals that have been converted by the M receivers, thereby extracting the N data series.
