Abstract:
The present invention provides an optically anisotropic layer which has a plurality of regions that differ in terms of the alignment state of a liquid crystal compound in the thickness direction and in which separation is unlikely to occur. An optically anisotropic layer according to the present invention is formed using a liquid crystal compound, said optically anisotropic layer containing a leveling agent and satisfying a predetermined requirement in a profile which is in the depth direction of the leveling agent-derived secondary ionic strength and which is obtained by analyzing components in the depth direction of the optically anisotropic layer by time-of-flight secondary ion mass spectrometry while irradiating the optically anisotropic layer with ion beams from one surface to the other surface of the optically anisotropic layer.
