Abstract:
An optocoupler comprises a silicon substrate (10), a buried oxide layer (20) on the silicon substrate (10), and a top silicon layer (30) on the buried oxide layer. The top silicon layer comprises a plurality of parallel subwavelength silicon grating elements (310) and an optical coupling area (32). Two ends of all the subwavelength silicon grating elements are connected to external optical fibers and the optical coupling area, respectively, and widths of the ends connected to the external optical fibers are less than those of the other ends connected to the optical coupling area. Each of the subwavelength silicon grating elements couples, to the top silicon layer, light transmitted from the external optical fiber, and decreases a spot size of the light transmitted to the optical coupling area to a spot size of light in a target waveguide. The optical coupling area is used to combine light input from the plurality of subwavelength silicon grating elements, and transmit the light to the target waveguide, thereby resolving the problem in the prior art of lacking a optocoupler having high coupling efficiency and low technology costs. Also disclosed is a light processing method.
