Abstract:
An organic electroluminescent device comprising a positive electrode layer and a negative electrode layer, and interposed therebetween, multiple layers of organic compound thin films including a light emitting layer and a hole blocking layer, wherein the hole blocking layer is disposed as a layer laid adjacent to the light emitting layer on its side of the negative electrode layer. Preferably, the hole blocking material constituting the hole blocking layer has an ionization potential 0.1 eV or more higher than that of the material for constituting the light emitting layer.
