Abstract:
This organic EL element (1) has a first hole transport zone (6) including a first positive electrode-side organic layer (61) and a second positive electrode-side organic layer (62). At least one of the first positive electrode-side organic layer (61) and the second positive electrode-side organic layer (62) contains an additive material. In the case where the first positive electrode-side organic layer (61) contains a fourth material as the additive material, formulae (numeral N1) and (numeral N2) are satisfied.　(Numeral N1): NM1 > NM2, (numeral N2): NM14 > NM10 (in the formulae, NM1 represents the refractive index of a constituent material in the first positive electrode-side organic layer (61), NM2 represents the refractive index of a constituent material in the second positive electrode-side organic layer (62), NM10 represents the refractive index of a constituent material in the first positive electrode-side organic layer (61) when the first positive electrode-side organic layer (61) does not contain the fourth material, and NM14 represents the refractive index of a constituent material in the first positive electrode-side organic layer (61) when the first positive electrode-side organic layer (61) contains the fourth material.)
