Abstract:
[PROBLEMS] To provide an ornamental building material for architecture that can be easily formed into desired configuration, permitting free expression and design and can produce original items and only one article at low cost, and that is lightweight and easy to handle, excelling in work efficiency and can shorten time for completion, and that does not need expertise in application, realizing low cost. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] There is provided an ornamental building material for architecture comprising a polystyrene foam as a base material, characterized in that a polystyrene foam prepared in given morphology is coated with a water base coating material comprising silica sand, portland cement and a sealer base composed mainly of a (meth)acrylic ester/styrene copolymer. It is preferred that the sealer base be used in an amount of 18 to 40 wt.%, the portland cement in an amount of 2 to 10 wt.% and the silica sand in an amount of 80 to 50 wt.%.
