Abstract:
The capacity of storage means necessary to produce virtual reflected sounds of left and right channels is reduced. In order that a sound field is localized at an arbitrary virtual position in reference to the head of a person wearing a headphone, inputted audio signals of left and right channels are processed. An out of head sound image localizing device comprises sound image localizing means (102, 103) for computing an audio signal produced from a virtual sound field, virtual reflected sound producing means (111) for summing the audio signals of the inputted left and right channels to generate a one-channel audio signal and computing virtual reflected sounds for the left and right channels respectively in the virtual sound image space by using the one-channel audio signal, and adding means (112) for adding the audio signals for left and right channels outputted by the sound image localizing means and virtual reflected sound producing means and computing an audio signal from an arbitrary virtual sound field.
