Abstract:
An outboard motor comprises a driving unit, a switching device (13), a vane wheel (15), and a vane casing (8). The switching device (13) transmits the rotation of the driving shaft (12) of the driving unit by switching it between forward and backward rotations. The vane wheel (15) is rotated by a driven shaft (14) connected to the switching device (13). The vane casing (8) has a first flow channel wall (19a) and a second flow channel wall (20a). The first flow channel wall (19a) has a first opening (18) that draws water from outside when the vane wheel (15) is rotating forward. The second flow channel wall (20a) has a second opening (21) that draws water from outside when the vane wheel (15) is rotating backward, and is connected to the first flow channel wall (19a) to cover the vane wheel (15).
