Abstract:
This outdoor unit for an air conditioner has therein a machine compartment in which a compressor and an expansion valve are mounted. The outdoor unit is provided with: a microphone which is installed in the machine compartment and which measures a sound in the machine compartment; and a control device which, when detecting, by analyzing a signal measured by the microphone, that an abnormal sound has been generated by the compressor and/or the expansion valve, controls one or both of the compressor and the expansion valve which are generating the abnormal sound, thereby reducing the abnormal sound.
