Abstract:
Provided are a device and a method for performing output sound control for making it easier to listen to a reproduced sound source, such as music, in a system that performs external sound reproduction. The device comprises an output sound control unit which analyzes an external sound level on the basis of an input sound from a microphone picking up an external sound that is a sound around headphones. Then, the output sound control unit, in accordance with an analysis result, determines a reproduced external sound level and a reproduced sound source level to be output from a speaker of the headphones. The output sound control unit performs a control process for limiting the reproduced external sound level in a region in which the external sound level is greater than or equal to a specified value, and for changing the reproduced sound source level to a level at which a relative level difference from an audible external sound level is maintained. For example, a process for adjusting the reproduced external sound level to a fixed level is performed.
