Abstract:
An outside handle device for a vehicle door, provided with a base which is mounted to the vehicle door, a long operation handle which extends in the front-rear direction of the vehicle, and a support member which is mounted to the base so as to pivotably support a section to be supported which is formed at one end of the operation handle in the longitudinal direction thereof. The support member (15) which is supported by the base (13) so as to be pivotable between a retained position before mounting and a mounting completion position is configured in such a manner that, when located at the retained position before mounting, the support member (15) is retained by the base (13) so as to be pivotable to the mounting completion position side in response to a pressing force applied to the support member (15) from the operation handle (14) by mounting operation thereof, that, when the pressing force from the operation handle (14) is causing the support member (15) to pivot to the mounting completion position from the retained position before mounting, the support member (15) pivotably holds the section (25) to be supported, and that, when located at the mounting completion position, the support member (15) is engaged with and affixed to the base (13). The configuration increases the efficiency of mounting of the operation handle.
