Abstract:
A polyphenol oxidase which is produced by bacteria belonging to the genus Myrothecium and has the optimum pH value in the alkaline region of pH (8) or above; a process for producing the oxidase; Myrothecium verrucaria SD3001 (FERM P-14955) and Myrothecium roridum SD3002 (FERM P-15225) which are novel microorganisms producing the oxidase; and use of the oxidase in the fields of oxidizing, washing, etc. of colored materials and polyphenol-containing materials.
