Abstract:
This invention provides a precursor for the manufacture of an Nb3Sn
superconducting wire rod. The precursor comprises a superconducting core part
comprising a Cu-Sn-base alloy and a plurality of Nb-base filaments disposed
in the Cu-Sn-base alloy, the Nb-base filament being formed of Nb or an Nb-base
alloy, a diffusion barrier layer disposed on the outer periphery of the superconducting
core part and formed of Nb, and a stabilization copper layer, wherein the distance
from the inner peripheral face of the diffusion barrier layer to the Nb-base filaments
present in the outermost layer part in the superconducting core part is set to
not less than 2 μm in a final shape after area reduction.
