Abstract:

It is intended to provide a Mallotus philippensis extract containing rottlerin which is highly soluble in water. It is also intended to improve the convenience in the process for producing the above extract by avoiding coloration in a filter and/or a pipe employed in the steps of extraction and filtration to thereby lower the washing cost, facilitating the introduction of freeze-drying, etc. In extracting a Mallotus philippensis plant with water/alcohol to give a colorant extract, a base component is added to thereby remarkably elevate the solubility of the Mallotus philippensis extract in water. Thus, the extraction ratio can be improved and the washing procedure in production or powdering of the extract can be easily performed. Moreover, the solubility in water of the extract thus obtained can be improved.
