Abstract:
Provided is a packed column backwashing method that is capable of backwashing sufficiently, and involves a simple packed column structure. Water containing hydrogen peroxide flows downward through a packed column (1) having a packed layer (3) of granular activated carbon. When oxygen gas has accumulated in the packed layer (3), backwashing is executed after the water level inside the column is lowered by opening a water-discharge valve (13). During backwashing, a flow stoppage step is performed between upward-flowing, backwashing flow steps, causing air bubbles to collect and gas to independently discharge itself.
