Abstract:
A paper-jam-sign detection device (100) detects a sign of a paper jam occurring in a paper feed device (200) and includes: a sound pickup unit (112) that picks up paper friction sound produced when sheets (10) are fed from a holder (270) holding the plurality of sheets (10); a sign detection unit (114) that detects a sign of a paper jam occurring in the paper feed device (200) on the basis of a reduction in the friction sound picked up by the sound pickup unit (112); and a signal output unit (116) that outputs, to the paper feed device (200), a signal for stopping feeding of the sheets (10) from the holder (270) when the sign detection unit (114) detects the sign.
