[Problem] To eli minate the problem of paper dust and residue staining images on paper or scatte ring inside a device, the dust and residue produced in stapling in which sheets of paper having images formed thereon are bound without using binding needles. [Solution] This paper post-processing device is provided with: a staple unit (410) for automatically forming a cut-in tongue portion and a cut-in hole of a presc ribed shape in a bundle of paper comprising a plurality of sheets of paper , and inserting the cut-in tongue portion into the cut-in hole to join the sheets of paper in the bundle of paper together, so that the bundle of paper is stapled; a paper bundle ejecting means (70) for ejecting a stapled bundle of paper (110); and a placement tray (3) on which the ejected stapled bundle of paper (110) is placed. The position at which the stapled bundle of paper (110) is ejected by the bundle of paper ejection means (70) and the position at which the stapled bundle of paper (110) is placed using the placement tray (3) are set so as to ensure that the staple d bundle of paper (110) is placed one on top of another on the placement tray (3) without being dropped or misaligned.
