Abstract:

Provided is a paper treatment agent containing a polyhydric alcohol as a moisturizing agent, which enables the production of a paper product that has good texture when the paper product is pressed hard against the skin upon the blowing of the nose or the like, and which is reduced in the absorption and desorption of moisture even under a high-humidity or low-humidity environment to keep the sensation upon use, moist feeling and softness thereof at good levels. The paper treatment agent according to the present invention contains (A) a polyhydric alcohol as a main component, and is characterized by further containing (B) at least one component selected from a linear alcohol and a linear fatty acid and (C) an anionic surfactant, wherein, when at least one component (B') selected from a branched alcohol and a branched fatty acid is contained, the ratio of the mass of the component (B') to the mass of the component (B), i.e., (B'/B), is less than 1.
