Abstract:
This parking assistance device comprises: an acquisition unit that acquires, as a detection point group, position coordinates of adjacent targets (60, 60R, 60L, 61, 62) detected in time series by detection devices (21, 22) while a host vehicle is traveling; a variation calculation unit that linearly approximates the detection point group acquired by the acquisition unit to create a linear approximation line, and calculates the degree of variation of each position coordinate with respect to the linear approximation line; an angle calculation unit that calculates the angle of the host vehicle with respect to an adjacent target according to the detection point group; and a propriety determination unit that assesses, on the basis of the degree of variation, whether or not the angle calculated by the angle calculation unit is to be used for assisting in parking of the host vehicle.
