A parking management method and system for an smart city, comprising: when identified that parking is not allowed in a parking position that is reported by a vehicle-mounted terminal, determining a target parking lot from a plurality of preset parking lots according to a vehicle identifier, the target parking lot being closest to the parking position and containing a free parking space that is suited to the vehicle type matching the vehicle identifier; when determined that a fee collection standard of the target parking lot is related to vehicle type, determining from the fee collection standard of the target parking lot a charging rule matching the vehicle type and sending the same to the vehicle-mounted terminal (102); when a vehicle in which the vehicle-mounted terminal is located enters the target parking lot, counting parking duration; when the vehicle leaves the target parking lot, according to the counted parking duration and the charging rule, deducting a parking fee from an electronic account corresponding to the vehicle-mounted terminal (103). A vehicle may be guided to the nearest parking lot for parking, and fee collection at a plurality of distributed parking lots is centrally managed, thus eliminating the need to provide a fee collection system at each parking lot, and improving management efficiency in fee collection.
