Abstract:
The particle beam transport unit (5) is provided with: horizontal deflection electromagnets (501, 502, 503) for deflecting the particle beam in a direction parallel to the center plane of a circular accelerator (12); a first vertical deflection electromagnet (551) for deflecting the particle beam, the direction of travel of which has been bent by said horizontal deflection electromagnets, in a direction that differs from directions that are parallel to the center plane of the accelerator; and a second vertical deflection electromagnet (552) for bending the direction of travel so that the particle beam, the direction of travel of which has been bent by the first vertical deflection electromagnet, advances in a direction parallel to the center plane of the accelerator. The horizontal deflection electromagnets are disposed on a different floor from the floor on which the particle beam-irradiating section (15) is disposed.
