Abstract:
For the purpose of calculating a PM oxidizing speed Vc, a map MAPc prepared using a suction air amount GA as a parameter is used along with a catalyst bed temperature affecting the activity of a catalyst reaction (S104). The suction air amount GA is closely related with an oxygen amount per time supplied to an exhaust emission controlling filter, and affects the oxidizing speed of PM deposited on the exhaust emission controlling filter. Therefore, a suction air amount GA used as one of factors determining an oxidizing speed enables a PM oxidizing speed Vc to be calculated with high accuracy. Accordingly, when a PM oxidizing speed Vc thus determined is used to execute the estimation calculation (108) of a PM deposit amount PMsm, a high-accuracy PM deposit amount PMsm can be determined independent of an internal combustion engine operating area.
