Abstract:
A peapod hetero-junction structure (81) forming a double barrier quantum well structure comprises a first structure (83a) having a first band gap, a second structure (85a) having a second band gap wider than that of the first structure (83a), a third structure (87) having a third band gap narrower than that of the second structure (85a), a fourth structure (85b) having a second band gap, and a fifth structure (83b) having a first band gap, all formed sequentially in the extending direction within an SWNT (single layer carbon nanotube) having a diameter of several nm. A microquantum structure can thereby be formed without relying upon micromachining technology.
