PELVIC CONDOM BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION 1. Technical Field The present invention relates to a condom for the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies, and more particularly, but not by way of limitation, to a pelvic condom suitable for use by either male or female. Latex construction permits the pelvic condom to conform and mold itself to either the feminine and/or masculine body.

In one embodiment, the unisex pelvic condom of the present invention completely protects the body surface between the waist and the upper third of the thighs to protect the vagina, the anus, and the penis during intercourse. The pelvic condom thus provides greater and better protection in the prevention of sexually transmitted diseases and undesired pregnancies. An anterior sheath is adaptable to either the penis or the vagina. A posterior sheath provides a protective barrier for the anus of either the male or the female and provides protection for anal intercourse between homosexual males.

In additional embodiments, the pelvic condom of the present invention is provided in a brief form for male and female.

2. Background Art Both female condoms and male condoms exist in the prior art. One feminine condom is formed from a polyurethane sheet and inserted in the vagina before sexual intercourse. The polyurethane female condom provides limited protection against unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases. Similarly, a latex panty condom covers the vagina, perineum, and external genitals.

The common male condom consists of a snug-fitting latex sleeve which is placed on the erect penis before sexual intimacy. Like the female condoms described herein, the male condom provides limited protection against unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.

Prior art condoms are sex-specific, that is, they are either male condoms or female condoms. A condom which is suitable for either sex has not been available until now. Further, both male condoms and female condoms are apt to slip during sexual intercourse, thereby rendering the condoms ineffective. The common male condom protects only the erect penis and leaves the scrotum and the anus completely exposed.

Disclosure Of Invention The unisex pelvic condom of the present invention, for use by either male or female, covers the body of the user from the waist to the upper third of the thighs. For the female, the vagina, the perineum, and the anus are protected; for the male, the penis, the scrotum, and the anus are likewise protected.

One advantage of the pelvic condom of the present invention is that, because of its anatomic design and molding capacity, it can adapt to either the female or the male body. The present invention provides, in effect, two condoms: an anterior condom and a posterior condom. Both the anterior portion and the posterior portion can be shifted and unfolded, thereby offering greater and better protection of the perineum and its orifices. The anterior condom is placed in the vagina or on the erect penis; the posterior portion unfolds to protect the anus and rectum. In the alternative, the posterior portion can remain folded and tucked into the intergluteal ridge.

Another advantage of the pelvic condom of the present invention is that it conforms to the user's body. The latex scrotum bag can remain folded when not in use, as in the case of a female user, or it can be unfolded to protect the scrotum bag of a male user. Likewise, the ano-rectal sheath is available for use in conjunction with ano- rectal intercourse, or it, too, can remain folded when not in use.

Another advantage of the pelvic condom of the present invention is that it provides transverse folds at the level of the pubis and circular folds on the anterior and posterior sleeves, thereby permitting expansion and contraction as the pelvic condom conforms to the shape of the user's body.

As illustrated above, with proper care and instruction, the versatile unisex pelvic condom of the present invention will encourage more widespread use of this type of protection and, as a result, increased numbers of the population will obtain greater security in the prevention of unwanted pregnancies and sexually transmitted diseases.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention In the following description of the invention, like numerals and characters designate like elements throughout the figures of the drawings.

Referring now to FIGS. 1-10, shown therein is a unisex pelvic condom of the present invention.

In FIGS. 1-5, the unisex pelvic condom 30 of the present invention is shown on a female body F. Generally, the unisex pelvic condom 30 has the general appearance and construction of a latex panty from which three prolongations extend. Transverse folds 32 accommodate variations in body structure so the unisex pelvic condom 30 can

move upward or downward as necessary to accommodate either a female user or a male user.

Referring now to FIGS. 4-5, an anterior sleeve 34 is disposed within the vagina and a posterior sleeve 36 is disposed within the female's an-rectal cavity. A scrotum bag 38 is shown in a folded position because it is not used by the female. In FIG. 5, an anterior sleeve thicker latex layer 40 in the anterior sleeve 34 creates a ring which is anatomically similar to the vaginal entrance and provides a measure of resistance to penetration by the penis. The thicker latex layer 40 helps to trap blood in the penis, thereby assisting in the inducement and maintenance of the male's erection. A posterior sleeve thicker latex layer 42 provides similar resistance and erection assistance in the posterior sleeve 36.

In FIGS. 6-10, the unisex pelvic condom 30 of the present invention is shown on a male body M. The transverse folds 32, which are located at the pubis level, permit the unisex pelvic condom 30 to shift slightly upward so that the anterior sleeve 34 can cover the penis or, when used by a female, the transverse folds 32 permit the unisex pelvic condom 30 to shift slightly downward to protect the vagina (see FIGS. 1-5).

Still referring to FIGS. 6-10, the anterior sleeve 34 covers the penis and the scrotum bag 38 protects the scrotum area. In FIG. 9, the posterior sleeve 36 is disposed within the male's an-rectal cavity. In FIG. 10, the posterior sleeve 36 is shown in a folded position as it would be used by a male not engaging in anal intercourse.

Referring now to FIGS. 11-15, a female brief pelvic condom 50 includes a principal piece 52 held in place by a waist band 54. The principal piece 52 is formed of two layers, i. e., an external layer 54, which gives the female brief pelvic condom 50 the appearance of regular panties, and an internal layer 58, made of latex, which almost completely covers the principal piece 52. From the internal layer 58 extend two sleeves, a female brief anterior sleeve 60 and a female brief posterior sleeve 62 (See FIGS. 14- 16). In FIGS. 14-16, the female brief anterior sleeve 60 is disposed within the vagina, and the female brief pelvic condom posterior sleeve 62 is shown inserted within the female's an-rectal cavity.

Referring now to FIGS. 15 and 16, the female brief pelvic condom anterior sleeve 60 includes a thicker latex layer 40 which creates a ring which is anatomically similar

to the vaginal entrance and provides a measure of resistance to penetration by the penis. The thicker latex layer 40 helps to trap blood in the penis, thereby assisting in the inducement and maintenance of an erection. The female brief condom posterior sleeve thicker latex layer 42 provides similar resistance and erection assistance in the female brief condom posterior sleeve 62.

Referring now to FIG. 16, a ring of small nodules 64 around the circumference of the female brief pelvic condom anterior sleeve 60 stimulate the clitoris, which is an important receiver of erotic stimuli, and produce a more gratifying experience for the user and her partner.

It will be understood by one skilled in the art that the female brief pelvic condom 50 has the appearance of regular panties but includes the female brief pelvic condom anterior sleeve 60 which protects the vagina and vaginal entrance and the brief pelvic condom posterior sleeve 62 which, when unfolded, protects the anus and rectum. Both the female brief pelvic condom anterior sleeve 60 and the female brief pelvic condom posterior sleeve 62 present, along their lengths, a series of circular folds which form puckers to ease placement and anatomic molding (See FIGS. 4,8,9,10, and 14).

Referring now to FIGS. 17-21, a male brief pelvic condom 70 includes a cloth piece 72 supporting a male brief pelvic condom anterior sleeve 74, a male brief pelvic condom scrotum bag 76, and a male brief pelvic condom posterior sleeve 78. In FIGS.

21-22, the male brief pelvic condom anterior sleeve 74 covers the penis, the male brief pelvic condom scrotum bag 76 covers the scrotum area, and the male brief pelvic condom posterior sleeve 78 is shown inserted within the male's an-rectal cavity.

Referring now to FIG. 21, the male brief pelvic condom anterior sleeve 70 includes a thicker latex layer (not shown) which creates a ring which is anatomically similar to the vaginal entrance and provides a measure of resistance to penetration by the penis. The thicker latex layer helps to trap blood in the penis, thereby assisting in the inducement and maintenance of an erection. The male brief pelvic condom posterior sleeve thicker latex layer 80 provides similar resistance and erection assistance in the male brief pelvic condom posterior sleeve 78.

Latex articles such as surgical gloves and condoms are commonly fabricated from latex by the immersion of an appropriate mold in a mixture of latex. When extracted from the mixture, the mold brings with it a thin latex film, which is coagulated and vulcanized. The immersion and vulcanization process can be repeated to obtain the desired thickness. The latex fabrication is well known in the art and, therefore, is not described in detail herein.

The foregoing descriptions of specific embodiments of the present invention have been presented for purposes of illustration and description. The embodiments were chosen in order to best explain the principles of the invention and its practical application, to thereby enable others skilled in the art to best use the invention and various embodiments with various modifications as are suited to the particular use contemplated. It is intended that the scope of the invention be defined by the claims appended hereto and their equivalents.
