Abstract:
Provided are a pencil lead that has sufficient strength during writing even when the tip thereof is sharpened, experiences little degradation due to moisture absorption, is erasable, and can be manufactured without using a temperature higher than 500°C, as well as a manufacturing method for said pencil lead. A pencil lead according to the present disclosure is characterized by including at least a clay for which a 2θ peak appears at 12.4±0.5 and/or 24.5±1.0 in an XRD measurement, a coloring material, and an alkali metal element. A manufacturing method for said pencil lead is characterized in that a clay is dried at 50°C-500°C and configured such that a 2θ peak will appear at 12.4±0.5 and/or 24.5±1.0 in an XRD measurement, the dried clay, a coloring material, and an aqueous solution of an alkali metal hydroxide are mixed, and the mixture is molded and then fired at 50°C-500°C.
