Abstract:
[Problem] To provide a pencil sharpener and driven toy capable of being efficiently operated by back and forth linear motions. [Solution] A pencil sharpener comprising: a drive shaft 611; wheels that are connected directly or indirectly to the drive shaft 611; a first gear 51 and a second gear 52 that are immobilized in the direction of rotation of the drive shaft 611; a third gear 53 and a fourth gear 54 that are provided so as to be rotatable in the direction of rotation of the drive shaft 611; an output gear 55 that meshes with the third gear 53 and the fourth gear 54; and a cutter unit 7 that is connected directly or indirectly to the output gear 55. The first gear 51 and the third gear 53 are biased so as to move close to or in contact with each other, and have ratchet teeth that mesh when the wheels are rotated in a first direction D1 of rotation of the drive shaft 611, and unmesh when the wheels are rotated in a second direction D2. The second gear 52 and the fourth gear 54 are biased so as to move close to or in contact with each other, and have ratchet teeth that unmesh when the wheels are rotated in the first direction D1, and mesh when the wheels are rotated in the second direction D2.
