Abstract:
The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition comprising Aster glehni extract or a fraction thereof as an active ingredient for preventing or treating obesity or metabolic diseases and a functional health food for preventing or improving obesity or metabolic diseases. The Aster hlehni extract or the fraction thereof, according to the present invention, reduces weight, reduces the amount of fat in the body, reduces glucose and total cholesterol levels in the serum, reduces the amount of accumulated fat in the body (liver and intestinal adipose tissues), and especially reduces the expression of genes that are engaged in metabolizing fat and forming adipocytes, and thus can be extremely useful in preventing or treating obesity or metabolic diseases.
