Abstract:
Disclosed are: a highly safe pharmaceutical composition for the prevention
and/or treatment of a bone disease; and a pharmaceutical preparation, a health
food or a functional food comprising the composition. An arylheptanoid compound
represented by the formula (I) or an analogue thereof can be used as an active ingredient
for the prevention and/or treatment of a bone disease. (I) wherein R1
and R5 independently represent a functional group selected from the
group consisting of H, a C1-3 alkyl group, a monosaccharide and a disaccharide;
and R2, R3 and R4 independently represent a functional
group selected from the group consisting of H, OH, a C1-3 alkyl group,
a monosaccharide and a disaccharide, provided that R5 may bind to a
heptylene group in the other aryl group in a meta-position to form a ring.
