Abstract:
Provided is an elongated phase contrast film, the phase contrast film having a slow axis at an angle of 10-80° (inclusive) relative to the width direction thereof, and being such that the NZ coefficient is greater than 0 and less than 1. The phase contrast film preferably is a 1/2 wavelength plate or a 1/4 wavelength plate, and more preferably is formed from a resin having a positive intrinsic birefringence value. The phase contrast film also preferably is formed from a resin that contains a crystalline polymer, and more preferably is such that the crystalline polymer is a hydride of a ring-opened polymer of dicyclopentadiene.
