Abstract:
Disclosed is new method for producing a phosphorous compound with an aromatic substituent and a phosphorinane skeleton, that can achieve good yields and purity without the use of an expensive hydrogen halide scavenger and without involving complicated post-production steps or solvent recovery steps. The production method comprises the following steps to obtain a phosphorous compound shown in the formula (V): a step (1), wherein a phosphorus oxytrihalide and a phenol or naphthol at a mole ratio of 1.1:1.0 to 3.0:1.0 is reacted in the presence of a metal halide, and the unreacted phosphorus oxytrihalide is removed to produce a mono-substituted phosphorodihalidate; and a step (2), wherein a dehydrohalogenation reaction is performed by reacting the mono-substituted phosphorodihalidate obtained in step (1) with a diol at a 0.90 to 0.99 equivalence to halogen atoms in the mono-substituted phosphorodihalidate.
