A photocatalyst, particularly for complete decomposition of water, comprising A¿2?X¿n?O¿m ?supported on RuO¿2?, or BX¿n?O¿m ?supported on RuO¿2? (wherein A is an alkali metal atom; B is an alkaline earth metal atom or Zn; X is a metal ion being in the d?10¿ electronic state; and n and m satisfy the relationship: n = m/2 or n = m/3, n being 2).
