member. The life spans of the photochromic beads may be extended, and
decorated objects may be designed to emit various colors.
Background Art
Generally, the color of a photochromic pigment changes due to
ultraviolet ray, and the same recovers its original color based on other
wavelengths such as heat or visible light.
In addition, a photochromic pigment is mixed with a synthetic resin
material based on an inherent characteristic of the photochromic pigment and is
used for a new material development. A photochromic pigment may be coated
or mixed when a raw thread is made. The thusly manufactured fabric material is
used for clothes.
However, since a ultraviolet ray is intensively emitted at an exposed
portion in the case of a photochromic pigment, integrated objects or clothes, the
inherent characteristics of the photochromic pigment cannot be maintained long
time.

Best Mode for Carrying Out the Invention
The photochromic decoration member and the use of the same
according to a preferred embodiment of the present invention will be described
with reference to the accompanying drawings.
If there are not any definitions concerning the technical and science
terms used in the present invention, they should be understood with the
meaning that a person skilled in the art could understand. The same operation
and construction as the conventional art will be omitted.
Figure 1 is a view illustrating a photochromic decoration member having
a circular cross section according to a preferred embodiment of the present
invention.
As shown therein, the photochromic decoration member 1 according to
the present invention is manufactured in such a manner that photochromic
beads 12 formed of micro beads of diameters of less than 0.01mm or football
ball size beads are inputted into a glass or plastic transparent tube 11, and then
the opened transparent both ends of the same are sealed with a stopper 13.
Namely, the photochromic decoration member of the present invention
is designed so that the photochromic beads are freely movable in the
transparent tube like a sand watch and are filled in such a manner that the
photochromic decoration member has a smaller volume than the volume of the
transparent tube. The position of the pigment can be randomly changed based
on the position change of the decorated objects, so that it is possible to prevent
a fast pigment change due to an intensive ultraviolet ray. The above
construction is designed so as to overcome the conventional problem that the
characteristics of the photochromic pigment contained in the decorated object
are not maintained long time since only part of the same is intensively exposed
to the light.
The photochromic beads according to the present invention are
manufactured by coating olefin wax at photochromic pigment powder which
emits various colors by receiving a ultraviolet ray as an energy source.
According to the method for coating olefin wax at the photochromic pigment
powders may be implemented by known various methods based on their sizes,
but in case of micro powders, a spraying and drying method is preferably used.
The transparent plastic tube may be made of any type of a transparent
polymer resin capable of transmitting an ultraviolet ray. Preferably, it is made of
a transparent polymer resin such as polycarbonate, polyethyleneterephthalate,
polyvinylchloride, polystyrene, etc.
The transparent tube according to the present invention may be formed
in a certain shape capable of receiving photochromic beads therein and may be
preferably formed in a conical shape or a rectangular shape, a triangle shape,
etc. when viewing in its cross section direction. In the entire shape of the same,
a certain shape may be obtained while matching with a 3D shape of a
decorated object such as a straight shape, a donut shape, and a star shape.
In the present invention, the photochromic pigment used in the present
invention may emit various colors by receiving an ultraviolet ray. A certain
compound, which does not change its color in reaction with olefin wax, may be
preferably adapted. The photochromic pigment powder may be formed of a
spiropyran compound, spirooxydine compound, naphthopyran compound, etc.
The olefin wax used in the present invention has an excellent durability
rather than other types of waxes and is aliphatic hydrocarbon compound
corresponding to a straight chain or branched monoolefin or polyolefin having at
least one carbon double couple (-C=C-). Preferably, the olefin may include a
substituent such as halogen atom group, oxalic acid group, nitro group, amino
group, cyano group, carbonyl group, acetoxy group, aromatic group, carboxyl
group, mercapto group, etc. The olefin wax according to the present invention
may be preferably formed of aliphatic olefin of 2~10 carbons and may be
preferably formed of a straight chain or branched pentane such as ethylene,
propylene, 1-butene, 2-butene, isobutene, 1-pentene, 2-pentene, 2-methyl-1-
butene, 2-metyl-2-butene; a straight chain or branched chain hexen such s 1-
hexen, 2-hexen, 3-hexen, methyl-pentane; polyolefin such as butadiene,
pentadiene, hexadiene; alicyclicolefin such as cyclopentene,
methylcyclopentene, cyclohexen, methylcyclohexen, cyclooctene,
cyclopentadiene, cyclohexadiene, cyclooctadiene. Preferably, it is formed of at
least one olefin wax selected from the group comprising low level olefins having
2~6 carbons such as ethylene, propylene, n-butene, i-butene and cyclohexen.
Figure 2 is a view illustrating a blinder curtain in which a photochromic
decoration member of the present invention is attached in a straight shape, so
that various colors are emitted as sunlight transmits. The photochromic
decoration member of the present invention may be attached in various shapes
and may be well adapted to conventional woven curtain or blinder curtain. In
particular, in the case of the woven curtain, the photochromic decoration
member is preferably attached to the portions in which the curtain is folded or
unfolded, so that a photochromic effect may be maximized by obtaining a more
active motion of the photochromic decoration member.
Figure 3 is a view illustrating a hair band attached with a photochromic
decoration member having a rectangular cross section according to another
embodiment of the present invention.
Figure 4 is a view illustrating a tennis racket in which a donut shape
photochromic decoration member is attached to a grip according to further
another embodiment of the present invention.
Here, the decoration member may be attached in various methods. It is
preferred that it may be attached to an attaching portion of an attached object
using a binder.
More preferably, it is possible to obtain a splendor visual effect in night
and day time by attaching a noctilucent member at both ends of the
photochromic decoration member, in detail, at a lateral side of the stopper 13.
Industrial Applicability
As described above, in the present invention, it is possible to maintain a
photochromic characteristic of a decorated object for long time period by
providing a photochromic decoration member in which a photochromic pigment
is not fixed at a decorated object.
