Abstract:
Disclosed is a photodetector (1) comprising a structure for improving the airtightness of a hermetically sealed container and the fusion bond strength between a flange portion of a hollow body portion (8) constituting a part of the hermetically sealed container and a light-receiving surface plate (3). The photodetector comprises a hermetically sealed container which is composed of a hollow body portion (8) made of a metal, a light-receiving surface plate (3), and a stem (5). The light-receiving surface plate is fusion bonded to the outer surface (i.e. a surface continuous with the outer circumferential surface of the hollow body portion) and the inner edge face of a flange portion, which is provided at one end of the hollow body portion, via a metal oxide film.
