Abstract:
A photomultiplier having a microstructure for attaining high detection precision by suppressing crosstalk between electron multiplying channels effectively. The photomultiplier comprises an envelope sustaining vacuum internally, and a photoelectric surface (22), an electron multiplying section (311), and an anode (32) are arranged inside the envelope. The electron multiplying section has a trench for amplifying photons in cascade as an electron multiplying channel, and each anode is constituted of a channel electrode corresponding to a trench defined by the wall portion. A part of each channel electrode (320) is arranged in a space delimited by a pair of wall portions defining the corresponding trench.
