Description:
A PLANT FOR THE EXPLOITATION OF WIND AND SOLAR ENERGY

* * *

The present invention concerns the field of the plants for the 5 exploitation of alternative and renewable energy sources.

More in detail, the present invention concerns a plant for the contemporary exploitation of wind and solar energy. It is well known that in the conventional energy power plants the different energy sources, alternative to the ones derived from fossil

10 fuel, usually are used one by one.

This implies the realization of plants of great dimensions, extremely expensive and often characterized in low efficiency levels. It is the aim of the present invention to realize a small plant able to produce - contemporarily exploiting wind and solar energy - an

15 amount of electric energy for domestic use and of warm water for sanitary use sufficient to satisfy the needs of a medium-sized residential building.

In a previous patent application filed with no. RM2006A000495 on 20 th September 2006, in the name of the same applicant, a system is

20 described for performing above mentioned functions.

Above mentioned invention had such a complex structure that made it difficult to reach the internal elements of the system, for maintenance or repair of the devices; furthermore, it requires detailed adjusting of the means for the captation of the sun beams,

25 for obtaining a level of optimal working of the same. Furthermore, the complexity of the structure implied high realization costs and long installation terms.

It is the aim of the present invention to overcome above mentioned inconveniences by the realization of an improved system for the contemporary exploitation of wind and solar energy, comprising:

- a series of solar concentrators, provided with focalization chambers surmounted by means for the captation of the sun beams, line Fresnel lens or similar;

- a sheaf of pipes carrying water for thermic and sanitary use, passing through said focalization chambers of said solar concentrators; characterized in that it comprises:

- an air conduct connected to a fan for leading the air inside said conduct; - tubular conducts for the reciprocal connection and for the connection with said air conduct, of the solar concentrators for the air passage, introduced by said fan, inside said focalization chambers, and of said air conduct;

- an electric generator operated by wind turbines, moved by the air flow passing inside said air conduct;

- a frame for supporting above mentioned elements.

The advantages of the system according to the present invention are many and evident:

- low cost production of warm water for sanitary use and of electric energy for domestic use; - a very low environmental impact;

- quick installation and low realization costs.

The present invention will be described more in detail hereinbelow with reference to the enclosed drawings in which a preferred embodiment is shown.

Figures 1 and 2 show a front and lateral view of a system for the contemporary exploitation of wind and solar energy, according to the present invention. Figure 3 shows a square section of the structural shape of the solar concentrators with which said system is equipped.

Figure 4 shows, in a scheme, the circulation of the air flows used by the system according to the present invention for producing electric energy.

Figures 5 and 6 show a top and front view of a possible integration of said equipments in the framework of a building for residential use. The enclosed figures show and improved system for the contemporary exploitation of wind and solar energy, comprising:

- solar concentrators 1 , of an approximately half-cylindrical shape, provided with focalization chambers 2 and surmounted by lenses 3 containing a metal blade 4 put into contact with heat-absorbing material 5 contained in a special section 6 through which passes a sheaf of pipes 7 that carries water for sanitary warm water, associated to a hydraulic switchboard 8;

- an air conduct 9 provided with a fan 10 for leading air inside said solar concentrators 1 , and with a compressor 11 for the forced circulation of the air inside the focalization chambers 2, reciprocally connected and connected with said conduct 9 by means of tubular conducts 12;

- an electric generator 13 associated to an accumulator battery 14, inserted during realization inside said air conduct 9 and coupled to a pair of wind turbines 15, 16 operated by the air flow passing through the same;

- a frame 17 moving on wheels 18 and provided with mechanical means 19, 20 for supporting said solar concentrators 1 , and with retractile covers 21 for the protection of the same in case of bad weather (snow, hail and so on).

According to the present invention, the solar concentrators 1 , appropriately positioned according to the average annual inclination of the solar arc, determine the concentration of the sun beams caught by special lenses onto metal blades 4 inside said focalization chambers 2, causing the overheating thereof. The heat stored by said blades 4, increased by the general raising of the internal temperature in the focalization chambers 2, will be transmitted by direct contact to the heat-absorbing material 5 contained in special section 6, determining the warming up of the sheaf of pipes 7 passing inside said material, and consequently of the water carried by the latter.

A hydraulic switchboard 8, associated to said sheaf of pipes 7, leads the obtained warm water towards the thermo-sanitary plant of the building connected with the equipment mentioned, thus performing the filling up of the same by taking the needed water from the existing water net.

An air conduct 9 provided with a conveyor fan 10, supplies the air into said solar concentrators 1 determining, by means of the special compressor 11 , the forced circulation of the same inside said focalization chambers 2, which are reciprocally connected and connected with said air conduct 9 by means of tubular conducts 12, as well as the reintroduction of said air flow inside said air conduct 9 when the run is completed. It is obvious that the external air flow, introduced by fan 10 into said air conduct 9, gets mixed up with the warm air flow coming from the focalization chambers 2 of said solar concentrators 1 , thus preventing to reach such heat peaks as to endanger the optimal working of the system. The combined action of above mentioned air flows determines the operation of wind turbines 15, 16 and consequently of the electric generator 13 connected thereto, thus producing electric energy for home use. Such electric energy will now be conveyed towards the electric plant of the building connected to the system according to the present invention, or stored inside special accumulators 14 working as a continuity group in case of black-out.

The intensity of the air flows passing inside said air conduct 9, and consequently the efficiency of the wind turbines 15, 16 connected to the electric generator 13, may be increased by introducing compressed air into the system.

Said system is assembled onto a frame 17 moving on wheels 18, provided with mechanical means 19, 20 for supporting said solar concentrators 1 , and with retractile covers 21 for protecting the same in case of bad weather (snow, hail, etc).

In a possible realization variant, the system according to the present invention may be integrated in the framework of residential buildings, housed inside special containing hulls 22 and protection domes 23. Different shapes and realization details can be widely varied with respect to what above described, still remaining within the scope of the invention.
