[PROBLEMS] To provide a plate damage measuring instrument capable of easily and accurately measuring the length of the damage of a sliding opening/closing device from a hole end on the sliding route surface of each plate thereof without dismounting the sliding opening/closing device from the tap hole of a molten metal container. [MEANS FOR SOLVING PROBLEMS] This plate damage measuring instrument comprises a measurer body (2) having a jetting hose (4) fitted to the tip of a nozzle (17) and jetting air into the sliding opening/closing device (14) and a suction hose (5) sucking the air jetted from the jetting hose (4) and returned from the sliding opening/closing device (14), a regulator (7) connected to an external air source and regulating the pressure of air jetted from the measurer body (2), and a pressure sensor (8) measuring the pressure of the air controlled by the regulator (7) and jetted from the jetting hose (4) and the pressure of the air sucked from the suction hose (5).
