Provided is a platform gate device (100) with which it is possible to extend the width of a boarding passage (E) and to achieve a reduction in weight. The gate device (100) includes: a first columnar member (10) that is mounted on a platform (P); a second columnar member (20) that moves on the platform (P) between a permitting position permitting entry of passengers into the boarding passage (E) and a restricting position restricting the entry of passengers into the boarding passage (E) away from the first columnar member (10) beyond the permitting position; and a wire (30) having a restricting portion and a non-restricting portion continuous with the restricting portion, the restricting portion having a length corresponding to the distance between the first columnar member (10) and the second columnar member (20) and extending between the first columnar member (10) and the second columnar member (20) so as to restrict the entry of passengers into the boarding passage (E) between the first columnar member (10) and the second columnar member (20), and the non-restricting portion being accommodated in the first columnar member (10).
