DESCRIPTION OF STATE OF THE ART The conventional plectrums, mallets or quills or like means are shaped as a flat, usually triangle shaped body with a very smooth plastic surface. The smooth plastic surface of the body causes problems of holding the plectrum between the fingers of a musician safely.

Still other plectrums are known where the problem of their holding is to be overcome by the deformation of a flat body so that a portion thereof designed for holding is turned slightly with respect to the plane in which the plucking portion of the plectrum body is arranged. This arrangement is ineffective as to the solution of the problems of the safe holding of the plectrum moreover, the user shall become used to two plectrum portions situated in two planes of different angles.

Finally a plectrum is known which is provided on the holding portion by knurling consisting of tips. Such tips should ensure a safe holding of the plectrum but this is not the case since the grip is safe and reliable in one direction only. I the event of using opposite directed tips on each plectrum side no safe and reliable holding is ensured with the thumb. If the tips are arranged in opposite direction along the longitudinal axis of the plectrum the thumb may be free to slip on its surface in the radial directions.

A disadvantage of the described plectrum with the opposite situated tips is an uncertain feeling of the musician who is in fact placed in the same situation in which he was when using the original plectrum with smooth surfaces.

DISCLOSURE OF THE INVENTION The above described disadvantages are overcome to a sizeable extent by a plectrum according to the invention whose substantial features are the provision of the front side and the back side of the gripping portion of the plectrum by tips that are arranged in mutually concurred lines.

The advantage of this basic embodiment of the plectrum is that the plectrum may be safely held without the necessity of providing other additional elements or modifying the overall flat surface of the plectrum.

Alternatively, the gripping portion may be divided into at least three sectors where the tips are mutually arranged so that the tips of one sector stand in concurred lines with respect to the tips of the adjacent sector. If each sector is accompanied by an auxiliary sector then its tips are also arranged in concurrent lines with respect to the tips of the main sector.

In addition to an increased grip effect as a result of the surface shape described above, this arrangement is also beneficial as to the low costs of the production technology.

It has been verified that the most preferred embodiment providing the most effective grip is such an arrangement of the tips where the tips of the adjacent sectors are disposed mutually to form an angle of 120 ° where the tips of each sector and its adjacent auxiliary sector are disposed mutually to form an angle of 60 °.

In another embodiment of the invention the gripping portion may be provided by longitudinal projections having the shape of letters or figures to distinguish the front side of the plectrum from its back side.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION Fig. 1 shows a plectrum 1 the front side 2 of which has three rounded corners 3. The front side is divided into a gripping portion 4 and a plucking portion 5. The gripping portion 4 is divided into three sectors 41. The tips of each sector 41 are oriented at an angle of 120 ° with respect to the tips of each adjacent sector 41. Longitudinal projections 7 are disposed in the center of the gripping portion 4 and have a shape of letters.

Fig. 2 shows a plectrum 1 with a front side 2 having three rounded corners 3 where the front side 2 is divided into a gripping portion 4 and a plucking portion 5. The gripping portion 4 is divided not only in three sectors but includes additional three auxiliary sectors 42. The tips 6 of each sector 41 are oriented with respect to the tips 6 of an adjacent auxiliary sector 42 so that they include an angle of 60 °. This plectrum is also provided by longitudinal projections 7 that are arranged in the center of the gripping portion 4 and are shaped like letters.

The functionality of the aforesaid arrangement is very advantageous since the plectrum 1 held by two fingers is secured against slipping out in all radial directions. The safety grip is not affected by the manner in which the front side or the non-marked back side of the plectrum 1 is held, i. e. with the thumb or the forefinger, as it has been the case in the previous arrangements. Also the holding of the plectrum 1 in a storage box or in a holder provided on the music instrument is safe in contrast to the bodies having smooth surfaces that may easily slip out when the instrument is manipulated.

INDUSTRIAL APPLICABILITY The plectrum according to the invention may by used in playing all string instruments as a plectrum, stick or mallet.
