Abstract:

A pneumatic tire for a motorcycle capable of increasing braking performance and high-speed turning performance while securing riding comfortableness. In the pneumatic tire, a semi-radial cross-carcass (16) is used to secure minimum rigidity and riding comfortableness, a belt layer (26) in the form of a cross-belt layer is installed at the crown part of the carcass, and a radial reinforcing band layer (22) in which a plurality of radially extending reinforcement cords (24) are arranged is installed on the inside of a tread end part. Since the radial reinforcing band (22) is disposed, the section bend rigidity of the crown part (bend rigidity in the lateral direction of the tire) is increased. Also, since the reinforcement cords (24) of the radial reinforcing band layer (22) restrain the radial elongation of a pantograph (of diamond shape) formed of a reinforcement cord (11) formed of two sheets of carcass plies, a large reinforcement effect can be provided. In addition, since the radial reinforcing band layers are not added to a tread end part, a high turning performance can be provided.
