Abstract:

The purpose of the present invention is to further improve the durability of a bead portion of a pneumatic tire with a carcass ply folded in a bead core. A carcass (13) is provided with, between a first section (13A) in which the cord-to-cord distance between a main body portion and a folded portion gradually decreases toward the outside in the radial direction of the tire, and a second section (13B) in which the cord-to-cord distance gradually increases, a first interval-unvarying section (13C) in which the folded portion (14B) is proximate to the main body portion (14A), which provides substantially the neutral axis of bending, and in which the cord-to-cord distance is constant, so that the compressive force acting on the cords of the folded portion (14B) can be decreased. Because the first interval-unvarying section (13C) is provided between the first section (13A) and the second section (13B) to prevent a sharp change in the direction of the cords of the folded portion (14B), concentration of stress at the rubber between the cords of the folded portion (14B) and the cords of the main body portion (14A) is prevented upon falling-deformation of the bead portion (12), thus further improving the durability of the bead portion (12).
