Provided is a pneumatic type massage device of a low operating noise and a light weight. This device comprises a pneumatic type massage tool (12) and a pump (142) prepared separately of the massage tool. The device further comprises electromagnetic valves (20, 96) for controlling the feed/discharge of the compressed air to the individual air chambers (16A - 16H) of the pneumatic type massage tool (12). Each of the electromagnetic valves includes a movable valve member (46) having an armature (74), and a solenoid (44) for attracting the armature, when a voltage is applied thereto, to move the movable valve member. The massage device further comprises an electromagnetic valve control unit (150), which controls a voltage to be applied to the solenoid so as to open the electromagnetic valves, such that the voltage may increase (V1 → V2) gradually with the lapse of time (T1). The armature is attracted to the solenoid end face till the time (T1) elapses, and is attracted by the solenoid in a voltage-dropped state (V3) thereby to keep the open state. After this, the voltage is dropped to bring the valve into a closed state.
